While today marks the day the IPhone 3G becomes available and free slurpees flow from 7-elevens across North America we are again looking ahead to the 15th Canada Cup International Women’s Fastpitch Tournament at Softball City in South Surrey.

CANADA CUP 2008 TAKES PLACE JULY 12 – 20!

The 2008 Canada Cup International Women’s Fastpitch Tournament at Softball City in South Surrey, BC Canada, takes place July 12 – 20 and what an international sporting competition it will be!

At the centre of it all, as always, will be many of the best in the world of women’s fastpitch competing on the diamonds at Softball City for the coveted Canada Cup. Canada Cup fans have been treated throughout the years to exciting, intense championship competition that include spectacular “you had to see it to believe it” plays. Mark the following dates down as there is more great softball action to come in 2008!

Four tournaments are expected to be part of the 2008 Canada Cup lineup – July 12-20:

The 15th Canada Cup International Women’s Fastpitch Tournament, July 12 – 20 at Softball City, Surrey, BC Canada, with many teams hoping to claim the Canada Cup as their own.

The 7th annual elite level Canada Cup International Fastpitch Futures Tournament World Junior Women’s July 14 – 20 at the Cloverdale Athletic Park, Surrey, BC Canada and Softball City.

The 4th Canada Cup 16 & Under Fastpitch Showcase Tournament happening July 14 – 20 at Softball City and Cloverdale Athletic Park.

And returning for the 11th time – the Canada Cup Special Olympics Friendship Division Tournament, July 17 – 20.

But that’s not all…this premiere international softball competition will also include an opening ceremonies, special promotions, prize draws and family entertainment – all adding up to super value and a celebratory festival atmosphere at this very special sports spectacular!

The Canada Cup was started by Chairman, Glen Todd in 1993 as an international women’s fastpitch developmental tournament. Many teams now regard the Canada Cup as one of the best competitive tournaments in the world and instrumental as they prepare for the World Championships.

The event continues to be a fan favorite with gate attendance reaching 119,301 for the 2007 nine-day tournament. The Canada Cup host committee is extremely proud of its historic success as a premiere competitive event.

It’s all part of exciting world-class Canada Cup softball – and it’s returning for the 15th time, along with the 7th annual Futures tournament and the 4th Showcase tournament, both of which are already having a profound positive impact on the lives of young athletes!
