The Nina, a replica of Columbus' favourite ship, will slide into Britannia Heritage Shipyard on Thursday, and will be open to the general public starting at 9 a.m. on Friday and then every morning until she departs on June 16.

Built by hand and without the help of power tools, the vessel has been described as "the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built."

This vessel was used in the production of the film 1492, starring Gerard Depardieu and directed by Ridley Scott.

While she is docked, the Nina will be open for self-guided tours every day of the week.

Britannia Shipyard is located at 5180 Westwater Dr., near the foot of Railway Avenue.

Adult admission is $5, $4 for seniors and $3 for students. Children four and under are free.

Oh I wonder if this means they are coming to Vancouver soon then. I remember last year (or the year before) and they were pretty cool to see. You could also have dinner aboard one of them as well (though it was a bit expensive).

I remember when the Bluenose was in Victoria (when I lived there) and that was pretty cool to see and to walk around on too.
